Root Canal Therapy: 4 Ways to Heal Following Treatment

Posted .

Did you know recovery is extremely important? Well, it’s true, especially after root canal treatment. So, if you’ve recently repaired and restored your tooth with a root canal in Houston, Texas, then it’s time to recover. To help you do so, Dr. Lupy Gonzalez and our dental team encourage you to do the following things:

Take prescribed medications

Medications will help you relieve the soreness and discomfort you might feel after the treatment, so make sure you take the prescribed medications as suggested. If you have not received any prescribed medications, you can take over-the-counter medication, like Advil or Motrin.

Avoid using that tooth

If your doctor has not filled or covered your tooth with a dental filling or dental crown yet, please avoid chewing with that tooth. If you use the treated tooth, your risks of contaminating or infecting the tooth again are severely high.

Brush and floss

Brushing and flossing your smile normally will help you tremendously. It will keep your mouth clean and healthy. If you need recommendations on how to properly clean your smile, please don’t be afraid to ask us!

Rest

Patients generally only need one day for recovery and then they can return to their normal activities. So, make sure you rest for 24 hours or for however long your doctor suggests.

As you recover, don’t be afraid to call Clearpoint Dentistry if you have any questions or concerns or if you experience any swelling or the return of original symptoms. Dr. Lupy Gonzalez and our entire dental team are here to help you in any way we can and we want you to have a full recovery as soon as possible. So, please call us at 281-487-2400 at any time!
